I also appreciate knowing when there is something trying to get in or
get out. And ZoneAlarm has done a good job overseeing everything.
Better than Norton Internet Security. But when your computer is on a
busy network where the tray icon is switching back and forth every
second due to normal taffic (SNMP etc.), it gets old very quickly. For
me the taskbar should do things only when it's trying to communicate
something important. I prefer not to be alerted by normal traffic to
and from my computer. As for things trying to get in and out,
ZoneAlarm brings up a big window asking for your permission. As for
hack attempts, ZoneAlarm should display something then, kind of like
Norton's red exclamation mark. I have 13 icons on my taskbar. Only
ZoneAlarm keeps an active icon. Can you imagine if all the rest of the
software companies decided to have active icons too? My taskbar is not
a circus. If they want to have such a feature in their software, they
should at least have the option to turn it off. Do you know of a way
to turn it off?
BTW, I'm annoyed, not pissed off.
