I have just purchased a Netgear MR814 Wi-Fi Router which includes a
Firewall (NAT style). For the 3 machines behind the router I plan on
loading firewall software on each one. The machines are at my home, 2
running Win98SE and the laptop XP, no web servers are being run on
these machines.

What I'm looking for from the group is some good suggestions for
several books (or online material) on how to setup the router/firewall
for internet security. The Netgear on-line manual gives an overview
but not detailed information for closing my system down and giving me
info as to what ports I need to leave open.

For firewall software what software seems to be the easiest to use and
is not to much of a resource hog? It would be nice if it was easy to
configure too.

I'd like to find out how to protect my systems before I have the phone
company come over and hook me up to DSL.

TIA
Don
