How reliable is Zone Alarm v4.0?

Zone Alarm v3.x was said as pretty much inviting to hackers... as it had no
LOW level, so called "drvier level protection"...

The new version 4.0 itroduces a possibility to define one's own rules which
makes the product dramatically more usable.

But does this new version support the "driver level protection" known from
Sygate or Kerio?

How do You assess its level of security when confronted with other software:
Outpost. Kerio, Sygate?
