www search showed I can set spoofed mac address through network card
properties in device settings of windows Xp.

My real problem solved I think. Old netgear FR114P used an ordinary patch
cable, the new one included one as part of package. Unfortunately the
hardware only worked when I used a crossover cable, so Ive a 29m reel of
cable trailing through the house (no wireless PCI cards for 108 mbps found
yet). Pity it took me all day to figure this one out.

Other problems
1) The internet LED is flashing amber rather than green. Maybe this is
correct.
2) I occasionally receive error messages informing me that no internet
connection exists and prompting for retry. Connection reestablished when
button pressed.

Im a bit disappointed with the firmware on this model compared to the
replaced FR114P. Although it supports logging, you cant choose what you want
logged. Plus it only seems to be logging outgoing traffic. Maybe I havent
been running it long enough yet.
