ADSL + Firewall + hub requirement

I have 2 computers and I want to do internet sharing,
but I have not had much sucess in using the facilities
built into XP to do this with. With one of the computers
I have always had problems with this sort of "add on";
I tried to add "Fax Console" to it, but never succeded
despite a load of emails to MS support.

I current have 2 computers hooked together with a
cross-over CAT5 cable. One runs XP pro, the other
XP home.

I have decided that the best way is to use an external
modem & ethernet hub. What I am looking for is *one*
unit that incorporates : -

ADSL modem
SPI firewall
NAT router/hub. (3 or 4 way)
(don't need USB or printer sharing etc).

I can do this with 2 boxes, like by using a separate ADSL
modem and say, a Netgear FR114P firewall, or I can
do it if I ease back on the firewall requirement by using
a Netgear DG814 (etc), but does anyone do what I want
in one box? I can't find one, but it must be a fairly common spec.

Also, is an SPI hardware firewall superior to a software
one? I use ZoneAlarm plus at the moment. Will a hardware
firewall check on outward bound stuff in the same way?

I am doing this as a sort of test - if it works I would do
the same thing in a small business network with about a
dozen PCs on it. This currently uses a (rather old) PC
as a dedicated internet server running Winproxy and
FTGate. This PC uses ZA pro. This PC is about due for
the scrapheap!

TIA,

Johnie

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are generally caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or overlooked firewall; or 2) inadvertently running two firewalls such as the built-in Windows Firewall and a third-party firewall; and/or 3) not having identical user accounts and passwords on all Workgroup machines; 4) trying to create shares where the operating system does not permit it. ...
