I am NOT surprised with your desire to rid your self of Symantec products.
Especially NAV. There has been a very detailed thread going on in NANAE
reference PROOF that Symantec is sending out viruses. You may want to read
up on it. I have the initial thread here:

I have heard all good reports from others on AVG, Avast, F-Secure, F-Prot &
NOD32 for AV products.
