However if I DO add an application rule for apache.exe on the win-xp
box and block all traffic, then it can no longer get through to the
unix box. So it makes no sense at all really. It needs apache running
on the xp box but doesn't prompt for a rule when ICS is redirecting
port80 to the unix box (but if a rule exists blocking traffic it won't
work), when ICS is not redirecting it DOES prompt for a rule and works
as normal. Incidentally a system wide rule allowing port80 inbound
makes zero difference to anything....
sorry to keep posting to my own posts but further experimentation
revealed this weirdness. I'll have to abandon norton Internet security
I guess as its fucking useless - unless anyone knows a way to get
round its insanity.
