Using zone alarm pro, I get a constant incoming alert from ICMP and then
'messenger' alternating. I dont use messenger and have never signed into it.
I wouldnt mind taking it off my computer but dont see it in add/remove
programs to uninstall. I'm assuming 'messenger' is ms version and not yahoo
which I do have installed. Going into msconfig, I thought I could disable
the alert by unchecking messenger in 'services'.

Helpful advice on this appreciated. I'm thinking it probably is slowing down
my computer with this constant alert action. If not, I could ignore it I
guess. I don't have it pop-up alert in any case but the report file gets
long with this constant action.
