You're simply ill-informed. You are still able to download a patch
once and apply it to any pc you want. When you reach the initial
windowsupdate screen, click "Personalize Windows Update" under the
"Other Options" heading. On this screen, check the box beside
"Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also". Go
back to the initial windowsupdate screen and you'll see a link under
the "See Also" heading which will take you to the Windows Update
Catalog. From there, you can download multiple updates via the
Download Basket and apply them to multiple pc's.
