Do this: When you first boot up your PC and login, wait a couple of minutes.
Then open a Command Prompt and type -> netstat

This command will show all of your current connections. If you don't have any
browsers open or Instant Messengers that run automatically at start-up, etc..
you shouldn't have any connections. If you wish, you could post the results
here for analyses.
