If you don't already have a router protecting your home computer the D-
Link (and others) are great for it. You should not be connected to the
internet through a direct connection without one.

When I was testing the Linksys (same type of product) I ran Tiny and
Zone Alarm (at different times) to see if anything was making it into my
machines that I had not invited in - nothing did.

As long as you don't enable port forwarding, select a LONG password, and
run a strong Anti-Virus Application (like Norton Antivirus 2003) you
should be safe from most crackers, hackers, virii, and trojans - of
course this all assumes that your systems are not already compromised
when you install these product.
