Hi, I hope I asked in the correct group.

I have a network which using ipchains 1.3.8 (hmm I know it is quite old)
for firewall on a Redhat server.

We currently have a problem which is our network have 2 Linux machines
(1 firewall and 1 email..etc servers) and some NT, windows.
If any linux servers need to download any files which is > about 200 kb,
it halts at about 100 kb something, including incoming Emails with
attachment which the files > 200 kb (or larger) from outside (have to
forward to internal server), FTP (client) to outside (server) which is
download files (same "large" file), even use lynx to download any files
say 500 kb it halts too. Therefore the users always complain about they
cannot send email to their account or cannot ftp..etc if the attachment
is > about 200 kb.

However for the email case, so far (we sent few test emails with same
attachment from different networks) only 1 network can send
successfully.

My colleague tried to download from the NT, windows boxes it can
download successfully.

The problem is only happened when transfer any large file to the
firewall or linux and it is no problem when send from our network.

Does anyone has any idea why it acts like that?

many thanks
