I use it on my network with no issues and I have been using BI for the past
three years.
BI is one of the better *network* IDS/firewall solutions on the market. The
BlackIce agent for the PC, server and RealSecure product lines are one in
the same.
The BlackIce IDS/firewall solution uses signature (which signatures can be
manipulated by the end user) and protocol analysis engines to detect
intrusions when it instructs its firewall component to close open ports to
an attack from an IP, and it will also take on the more traditional role
of an IDS application such as Snort and will alert the Admin to intrusion,
where as, the Admin can set a firewall rule to permantly block an offending
IP with the UI component..
BI has a powerful firewall component, but it's more sophisticate rules must
be entered in its firewall.ini file.
BI is a packet filtering network IDS/firewall solution based on the OSI
model for network firewalls.

The key to BI is reading the Server User manual, because the PC manual
doesn't go into detail for the more savvy user.
BI runs on my Win 2k server and Pro workstations with no issues.
The key is to use the trailware to get a feel before you buy and also read
some on the manual to understand what is happening.
