John have you enabled wins on the tcp/ip stack on the client? you also need
to specify the internal ip address odf the wins server, have you enabled
netbios over tcp? have you enabled file & print sharing as well as client
for microsot networks? If you have done all that then you sould be able to
resolve names and access shared resources. If that fails then try adding
entries for the lmhost file on the client.
