I use Winroute Pro to share a cable and ADSL connection with my LAN.
The simplest solution is to add a persistent route (assuming Winroute is
running on a Win2k/Xp/NT box) that directs all traffic destined to the VPN
endpoint through the adapter you wish to dedicate for that function.
Optionally, you can use Advanced NAT. Say your Winroute default gateway is
through the cable modem adapter. You could spoof the source address to the
VPN endpoint with your ADSL IP address. Return traffic from the VPN endpoint
will be addressed to the ADSL address. Winroute will then properly relay
that traffic to client. I use this method to allow my cable adapter to talk
to my ADSL ISP's proxy server. It won't honour service requests from
addresses originating from my cable modem ISP's network. With advanced NAT,
I change the source address to that of my ADSL connection. The proxy then
returns traffic to my ADSL connection.
When setting up 2 Internet connections, remember to force one of them to be
the default. You can do this by setting the metric of the desired default
adapter to 1 and that of the other to 2, for example.
