Scott,

Not sure if this may be relevant to your situation. However, there was
apparently a "bad" LiveUpdate for NIS 2003 (specifically) released on 4 or 5
March 2003 that apparently caused a number of problems.

If you downloaded that _before_ encountering these problems, that _might_ be
the source. That LiveUpdate was subsequently withdrawn, but I don't know if
Symantec has yet put out a 'corrective' LiveUpdate for those NIS/NPF 2003
users who were unfortunate enought to have downloaded and installed it.
(Wait for some authoritative information from Brendon Woirhaye or Phillip
Pi.)
