To the best of my knowledge, there's only one way to do this in NIS/NPF
2003. That involves use of the logexprt.exe utility included.
It's a royal PITA and I most certainly won't try to convince you (or anyone)
to the contrary. You would effectively have to write a small batch file to
do the downloads and then use the Task Scheduler to schedule it to happen
at specified intervals.
It would be nice if NIS/NPF 2003 users could still use Sven Schaefer's NIS
Log Viewer utility, but Symantec shut off its access. Sven, as I understand
it, is trying to figure out some _reasonable_ way of using it with NIS/NPF,
but I'm fairly certain that (unless Symantec opens the interface) about all
he can do is going to be a very unsatisfactory kludge.
Don't blame me; I don't make policy decisions for Symantec (and I also won't
use NIS/NPF 2003, although I've used all their earlier releases).
