I've followed this NG for some months and have come to know ... I'm
way out of my league in terms of serious network security issues. And
I need some help. I've done fine setting up my home computer (dialup)
and it passes all test and criteria as often mentioned in this NG.

Our network of 10 workstations (Windows98se), one (1) file server
(Windows2000 Server) are fully patched according to Windows Update and
Big Fix. We are connected to Internet through a box called Whistle
Interjet, which is an IBM product. We only use this box for our mail
server. While I can't tell what OS operates on this little box, it
does not seem to be a Microsoft product. We turn-on this box each
morning and establish a 56k connection to the ISP, which is used
primarily for email. This box is connected to a D-Link switch, which
is connected to the file server and the 10 workstations.

PCFlank test reports security problems at the IP address related to
Whistle Interjet, but does not seem to see the workstations or file
server from which I'm running the test. Which I hope this means is
the security problems don't go past Whistle Interjet, which is just
our mail server. Whistle's built-in firewall only works with a static
IP address, which is not available from our ISP.

If our workstations and file server are "at risk," then I need
security consultation and assistance. If we're in deep trouble, then
I would appreciate a recommendation or 2 for assistance from within
the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Holding my breath, I'm
looking forward to the "news".
