Is it possible to use Sygate firewall ( free version ) successfully with ICS
? I ask because I have been trying since yesterday morning to get this thing
to work !

I have 2 PCs, my PC and internet gateway, ( broadband ), has the printer and
uses XP Pro ( its built in firewall service is disabled ) this PC is
networked to another PC that uses Win2k. Both Machines have Kerio installed
and with rules made for networking, they have been working fine for over a
year, file and printer sharing isn't a problem.

The problem begins when I remove Kerio on the XP box and install Sygate,
both machines an access the net easy enough, I can also see the win 2k
machine on the network but, no matter what rule I make or what service I
allow, the win 2k machine cant see the shared folders or printer on the XP
machine, trying to browse the network from win2k, I get 'network not
available' All PC's use realtek Nics.

What I have tried so far:

Ticked all the options on Sygate for the 2 Nics
Turned off the driver checking on sygate
Allowed all apps full access
Created advanced rules for all ports and a network range
192.168.0.0 -192.168.0.255
Created rules for each network address on the network including the subnet.
Allowed all apps in the advance rules

The only way the win2k machine can see my xp machine is if I switch off
Sygate ! Then it all works fine, so far I cant find a solution and I think I
have worn Google out searching. I know there is nothing wrong with Kerio, I
just wanted to see how good Sygate was. In fact, when I use Kerio and
Pc-cillin together with webtrap enabled, I have to move the firewall rule
for IE to the top otherwise when I open IE, there is a delay before IE opens
and finds the webpage, with Sygate, IE opens faster.

Any help would be appreciated,
thanks,
Martin
