The authentication issue may or may not exist. Mostly I take guesses from
what I have seen in the past and this is only a possibility. I figure it may
exist in this case because accounting software should include something like
this. It is usually password protected above and beyond what the OS does. I
gathered from the last post that NetBios wasn't the issue and your ability
to share other files proves this. I am thinking that either the client or
server end of the program uses non-standard or random ports for certain
connections but again a guess. Back when I was taking a look at ZA I was
running a couple servers only within a LAN with everything allowed and still
had to make extra settings to open specific TCP/IP ports even in the trusted
zone. As far as the speed issue, could you use other programs at the same
time or was the whole machine taken to a halt? If so what speed processor?

As far as Sygate I haven't heard many and maybe not any gripes from others
so it may be worth a try. And I have seen others state that it was easy for
them to set up. Hopefully it may even let your accounting software work from
the start.

I don't recall what directory the ZA logs are in but I wouldn't doubt they
are still there. If you run through the list of threads in this newsgroup
concerning ZA I know that has been addressed before so you should find it.
If you had firewalls installed on both the user and server machines I
suspect the logs on the server machine would be the best ones to look at
first. Don't necessarily spend too much time on this at this point because
the issue may not exist in the firewall you try next so we'll leave that as
something to look at if a problem should arise. If you want to try ZA again
that is up to you. It's a crap shoot at this point so you may be better
going with something else, you may be just wasting time with ZA again
because of some odd bug. Nobody will know whether it is a waste of time
until the time is already wasted, plus I'd hate to make any suggestion that
sends you into the office after hours :) If you or your employees didn't
like the user interface of ZA to start with the choice is easy.
