Taking a moment's reflection, Luis Fernando Martins mused:
|
| All this to ask one simple question, what do I have to do to play
| games with the firewall online? I thought I only had to change things in
| the firewall if I was to play a server on my computer.
| Anyone playing games online with firewall active?
Check for blocked traffic associated with the server you were connected
to in your firewall logs. A long time ago, I had similar trouble playing
Half Life mods (DOD, TFC) with ZoneAlarm running. ZA was blocking traffic
to some (not all) servers to UDP port 0. This was causing the game to slow
because ZA was blocking, literally, 300 attempts every 20 seconds. It had
to do with a server administrator mod these servers were running. I haven't
seen the problem in quite some time, though.
