Whether you use the plugins or not, I think it speaks more to the general
instability of the product. The fact that it is possible to crash Outpost
by just simply surfing the web really is a concern.
The thing that really sets the current version of Outpost apart from the
rest is the use of the plugins. If you don't use the ad or active content
blockers, Outpost then becomes an average firewall. I would even suggest
that it becomes a less than average firewall since most of the other widely
used firewalls currently have some form of stateful packet inspection and
are able to block the unconventional non-grc.com type leak tests which are
things that Outpost currently cannot do.
Again these problems are apparently fixed in the next version so it'll be
worth another look once it comes out.
