All,

I don't know what group this message should be posted in, but I
thought I would at least start here. I run Sygate firewall on my
home computer, and for the last week I have logged over 700-1,000
attacks a day when I am online (all from the same source address). I
have used the various online scanners and they all say I'm secure.
I've had a couple of friends that I trust scan my computer at known
dates and times, and they never even registered me as being online.
I've already contacted the online databases to trace back the
offending address, and it gave me the company who owns that address.

I contacted my internet provider who told me point-blank that
there was nothing they could do unless the offending computer was a
direct customer of theirs. My question is this...I am already
working on trying to talk to the provider of the offending source of
the attacks, but if there's nothing they can do, what should my next
step be? If I go with a response attack program of my own, I become
no better than the ones who initiated this attack.

I've already been running a router and the hackers have never
reached my home network, but still...What can I do to hopefully
prevent any more attacks...or at least contact someone who might be
able to help me out?

Thank you
Lawndweller
