I have appreciated the various answers. The issue is not one of a program
trying to call out, but just that my computer is trying to reach a variety
of IP addresses and the whois info shows them not to be anything I would
expect to find. Have used both AdAware and Pest Patrol and eliminated all
cookies and right after that there was an outgoing alert for an IP address
in Sweden. What other steps should I try to solve this mystery? What if
any other info from alert log would help someone help me out. Dave Danforth
