So you gave it "server" rights? Does this mean that your PC is now a server
so that everyone can go log into your computer and lisen to your music?
(hint, hint, sarcasm). I wish they'd call it "access" rights, since windows
media player isn't a server any more than the pc I'm typing this from.

I'd say that maybe you need to configure windows media player. Also, since
norton personal firewall tells me everything I want to know about anything
that want access (not "server rights", bull sh*t) to the internet, I came up
with the following ports that it wants to connect to:

Outgoing remote ports http (80), netshow (can't find the port #), and rtsp
(554, used mainly for real networks' stuff). Also, since apple's quicktime
gives a lot more info on what ports it needs (unlike microsoft, where I have
yet to find firewall configuration information for windows media player), I
use their setup of udp ports 6971 - 6999. You must go into the windows
media player setup and tell it you want it to use those udp ports. Mine
works great with this configuration.
I'm not good with zone alarm though, so I don't know how to configure yours.
But that's what mine wants (since the prompts in NPF allow you to allow
access, and it tells you the port it attempted to use. Then you just allow
that application that port, etc).
Oh, if you're using it through msn messenger or by logging into passport,
you may want to enable https (443) and msnp (1863) as well.
