No, if it's home, you don't need that much security. I'd say use the winXP
firewall, or deactivate it and use zone alarm. But winxp is free, and
probably more stable since it is built into winxp.
Still, remember that a firewall don't protect against viruses, and it don't
protect against spyware (since nothing can protect you from your own
stupidity)(no, i'm not calling anyone stupid here).
There's other ways to make winxp more secure as well, since most security is
dependent upon your operating system's base security. True, you can block
nearly all the bad stuff with a firewall, but who wants to mess with their
firewall all the time?
Home security is this: don't do anything stupid, and use some basic
security. If they can get past winxp's firewall and good antivirus, and
hack an NTFS operating system, they're first of all a REAL hacker (not some
stupid teenager who downloads things from www.hackers.com), and you're in
BIG trouble anyways.
It's sorta funny to me how people depend on a firewall to keep their data
secure. A better way would be to do a backup every weekend of all the stuff
you don't want to lose (i.e. documents, since software can be reinstalled).
That way, if you lose something, as will always happen eventually, you still
have a backup copy.
Security is a lot more than just a firewall.
