I'm having a strange problem with the peer-to-peer application WinMX (v.
3.31) after installing Norton Internet Security 2003 (NIS). I cannot search
for files if I connect with a primary connection AND NIS is enabled. If I
turn off NIS or connect as secondary, everything is OK. Another strange
thing is that if I connect as primary and enable NIS, I am able to search as
long as I am connected to 1 other primary computer (P=1) only. 2 seconds in
heaven... When I after hook up to the 2nd primary, I do not get any search
results.

I have tried to disable all of the NIS components one by one: personal
firewall, intrusion detection, antivirus, privacy control, ad blocking and
spam alert. The only solution is to turn off NIS, but I can leave antivirus
on.

The firewall is wide open for WinMX traffic and the NIS log files do not
give any clues.

I had no problem with 3.31 and NIS 2002 and I do not have any other software
conflicts.

Anyone have a clue?

Knut
