This is somewhat of a loaded question....the answer really is that its only
as good as its configured. If its set up properly, it can be pretty secure,
but be aware that it also depends on what you want to do. ISA server is
both a firewall and a proxy server, taking the job of preventing intrusions,
and allowing secured access out from inside users.
That all said, it depends on who is going to be setting it up too. ISA
server is a heck of a lot easier to set up then a PIX, you dont have to
learn the cisco IOS, or muddle through their web based option.
Personally? I have implemented an ISA firewall at work, we have a few folks
who have administration abilities on it, and they can do what they need. At
home I have a PIX, i know cisco enough to have set it up.
For you? ISA could definitely work.
