Andy,
So good to hear there is someone else out there in the same boat :)
Initially my system date was incorrect Oct 4 2002 the vendor when installing
the WinXP had typed 2022. I noticed this about a week later and changed it
to 2002. Immediately the trial session of Zone Alarm had a fit said no more
try out days buy now so I did but it also lost all facility to do log
viewer.
Other than clearing out the registry records I have uninstalled twice now
which included deleting the zllictbl.dat file in the Windows System folder.
Doing this requires that the registration number be typed CAREFULLY back in
as the new installation starts up. NO change resulted with the log viewer!
The weird thing is that I installed the same download into a Windows98se
machine to see what would happen and in that environment the contents are
there in the log viewer. There is a migrate.dll in the Zone Lab folder which
is not present in the WindowsXP install.
Actually, I downloaded the setup_1025 thinking it might have been something
to do with setup_1026 but that resulted in the same no entry in the registry
for the storage in the Windows/Internet log folder. There are files in the
Internet log folder but no longer is there the backup file and the
Iamdb.rdb. Now my Owner.ldb is in the root C I found that only because I
have all hidden files and extensions turned on. I think there is something
recorded in the registry and it doesn't matter what is done this is the way
it will be.
The thing appears to be working according to viewing the txt file although I
would say the constant traffic has slowed down.
I guess the reporting of these 'hits' is not like reporting a virus although
I wondered why one ISP address kept repeating. It was from somewhere in
middle Europe.
The Zone Alarm web site is next to useless to search anything out. As of
today I couldn't even find other user's questions and the company answers.
They send 'pre written' solutions that barely address the content of the
tech posting. There is more information on this newsgroup and at
News.grc.com (grc.security software)
If you find a solution do post.
Rose
