Since Kerio Tiny Personal Firewall is free, I'd skip all of the above.
Install TPF, Ok the connection as you start each of your programs that
access the internet. Your done. No hassle! You've got all the protection
most home users need. Provided you do NO file sharing and do not use any
of the chat/messaging trouble makers, you'll be fine.
