ZoneAlarm (vsmon.exe) Question

I see vsmon.exe running as a process on my 2k pro machine. It runs even when
I don't have ZoneAlarm running.
I try to kill the process but it won't let me....yet I am admin on my box.
Can someone shed some light on why this behaves like this?
