You're using a firewall with ICS. First off, ICS is hard to configure and
use properly as it is. Adding the firewall only makes things a heck of a
lot worse, especially if the firewall isn't very customizable.
Norton personal firewall is customizable enough to run ICS with, but still
why bother? ICS is a nuisance, and I'm surprised you're getting it to run
properly like that.
A better option, if you're using broadband, is to go over to a REAL LAN
setup:
All computers plug into the broadband router.
The broadband modem plugs into the router over crossover cable into the WAN
port.
This is better because first off it has all your security at the front end,
instead of downstream.
Secondly, it's not software. Software firewalls are vulnerable only when
they crash your system (i.e. overtask it), which can happen with slower
machines. The hardware firewall eliminates this. This also means that,
since it's pre-configured, you can't dork it up on accident.
Finally, both computers can equally share the internet, and also are on a
LAN together, which makes file and printer sharing WAY easier than over ICS.
