Firewall protection on starband

You can't use a router for firewall protection, as starband hiccups.
They have their own network and fire wall software which I don't like.
Since starband is my only option other than t1, for net access, I would
like to know if there is firewall software that can be used on a network
    to protect all machines via the host machine.
Any help will be appreciated.
