Hi

The answer depends on whether you run Retrospect interactively or
via a script. To get it to overwrite a tape on a specific day then
that needs to be run as a recycle backup - that will backup *all*
the files on your designated drives and will ask for confirmation
before overwriting a tape. If you run the same thing as a script
then you can set it to just overwrite the tape without prompting
and you can setup the scripts to be a 'normal' backup or recycle
over a set number of days and tapes.

There is an example in the documentation of how to run a cycle of
backups to ensure you have tapes that can restore your system
correctly.
