Hi!
I've just bought a D-Link DI-804 and it doesn't handle the WAN address
properly if the call comes from within the LAN. It discards the packages
instead of routing them as if they came from the outside.
Their older model, the DI-704, did handle this correctly (according to
D-Link Sweden), but for some reason they changed this in the 804. D-Link
Sweden has confirmed this and they have even tried to get the firmware
makers to change it because they get a lot of complaints about it, but so
far, they haven't even gotten a response. D-Links own words: "We've really
screwed this up. Not even we [at D-Link Sweden] know where to get the manual
for each firmware release, and we are bombarded with firmwares".
I've asked them (both D-Link Sweden and Taiwan) in writing if this will be
corrected and if they could tell me where to get the manual (for firmware
2.04), but so far, no answer. I am therefor going to return my 804 and look
for a similar gateway/router/switch/firewall for approx. $100, but without
the mentioned problem.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Ted Lyngmo
