Hello Serge,
I am up for a little bit and I want to get you off on the right foot. When
you communicate back to me I want you to do so in the newsgroup so that
others may see what is happening.
I want you to use top posting. You will see what top posting is when you go
back to the newsgroup and view this email/post I have made to you in the
"Bypassing the firewall" thread.
First of all what MS OS do you have Windows 98 or ME, what is it.?
What type of firewall do you have on the machine such as Outpost, Zone
Alarm, etc., etc.?
The answers to your questions are in some posts I have made recently and I
will be sending you to these posts in this newsgroup, instead repeating
myself.
ISP means Internet Service Provider.
If you see any links in the posts I have made go to the URL/link and see
what it is talking about.
The one thing you MUST remember is that an open port is an open port no
matter what port it may be.
I want you to go to http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/tcpview.shtml
and down load and install TCPview, which well the IP or UDP ports your game
program is using when it is running. If you don' t have Winzip on your
machine go to www.winzip.com and get the software both pieces of software
are free.
So start your game and then start TCPview to see the ports the game is
using.
Here are the treads with posts I have made that will tell you how to do what
you need to and what other issues you need to be aware of when using the
Internet like your wanting to use.
Go to the following posts/threads:
1) Router's Firewall
2) Can't get port forwarding to work (LinkSys)
What you will basically be doing is called Port Forwarding the ports that be
who are using the same game their end to the machine where you are playing
the game
The two post's above will give you the road map.
I will be at work, but I will be able to check back in the newsgroup
throughout the day to answer any questions and see your progress.
Duane
