Torch,
I use to love Outpost.... however, be aware that it can be very buggy at
times. It worked for me for a long time and just out of the blue it started
giving me lots of problems. Especially, with FTP packets. I've uninstall
and reinstalled - uninstalled and upgraded, etc. Finally, I had to admit
that it was not doing the job and I went out and purchased a hardware
firewall. I was AMAZED at the log files after installing it; definitely a
lot more scans than I thought I was getting... plus, I'm constantly getting
hit on port 15802 (see my previous post).
Honestly, it's better than nothing, but be prepared for some flakey behavior
(and before some flames me, yes I upgraded to the latest version), but I
would STRONGLY recommend that you look into getting a hardware solution.
However, to be honest, other posts have been correct that their support
forum is good and there are some very helpful people on it.
HTH and Best Regards!
P.S. I tried Zone Alarm and was very dissatisfied with it. I keep getting
the "blue screen of death".
