briefly I have windows 98se dual boot with xp athlon 1600xp,everything has
been great for 3 months then today I was going to use ms dos prompt,I could
not find it but then noticed it had integrated in to start programs
zonealarm,i thought this strange but never gave it much thought.
then not long after during a reboot I had many sorts of problems with page
faults etc and every program anti virus etc throwing up fault problems, then
windows gives me a bad error message saying (detected leak in m-matrix PT}
click ok to cont,it then skipped to another error M-moment coeffs,by this
time i really suspected a virus and reset the pc,when back to wind 98 things
never improved much with the screen graphics locking, tried several reboots
and dial up etc was playing up.
decided to boot to D wind xp and no icons loaded, then 2nd 3 rd attempt it
would not even go past loading, eventually back on wind 98 after many
attempts i got avg to run, although using ctrl alt del avg was listed twice
with a suspicous avg9.exe created on july the 13th,also an avgcc or
something, but a full scan showed up nothing wrong,so i downloaded trojan
cleaner and it was all clear, but the update from there program crashed on
not finding its own exe and refuses to update again.
after uninstalling avg and zone alarm pc is running stable so far but am
kinda thinking something is lurking, checked back for dos prompt and although
zonealarm is removed there is still a path in program menu leading to ms dos
with no zonealarm there.
sorry this e-mail is long but if anyone has any ideas what might be
happening here I would be greatfull as I dont know where else to ask.
