I agree... sygate is very highly configurable, unlike XP's firewall which is
not. You definitely want filtering of outbound traffic. You may need to
exclude the sygate folder from being scanned by your antivirus.

Watch out if you try to run both a memory resident on-access antivirus and
anti-trojan program, many of them are incompatible and will detect each
other as viruses. However, you can run one of them as an on-demand scanner
only, to just scan your hard drive from time to time, though if you find
something on your machine with the on-demand scanner, it may be too late.
