Probably the wrong group for this query, I apologise if so, but any
pointers would be very welcome.
We have two Toshiba laptops both with wireless cards linked to an ADSL
router. File sharing is not enabled. Last night mine was switched off,
his was left on, with Outlook open on a draft message. This morning his
hard disk appears to be trashed, making horrible clicky noises and
unable to complete running scandisk or even to run Windows in safe mode.
I run the free ZoneAlarm, he doesn't have a firewall on his machine, but
there's nothing in my logs to indicate any probing. It sounds like a
mechanical breakdown to me, but could it have been a hacker?
