Sygate Firewall network problem

Can anyone advise.

I currently have a broadband connection running behind a Sygate Firewall
version 5.0.

I have my desktop linked to the laptop with a direct cable connection. My
internet connection sharing works fine without the firewall running but when
switched on it disallows the laptop from connecting to internet or e-mail. I
have tried, with my limited understanding, to configure the firewall to
allow the laptop access but to no avail.

Anyone point me to an idiots guide? Walk me through configuration?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
