What firewall are you using?
So the PC has two ethernet cards?
First of all, I think you're spinning your wheels. If the hub has an uplink
port, put the adsl modem to that with a crossover cable.
Second of all, it's hard, if not impossible, to find a firewall compatible
with ICS.
I'd hook the computers to the hub, and the adsl to the hub. That way both
share the modem. Then just configure your computers for DHCP networking
(i.e. don't specify an IP).
Also, since the hub will let the ISP see both computers, I'd get a broadband
router, since broadband routers now (most) have NAT "firewalls" and stateful
packet inspection, which usually are enough protection for home users. Even
if you're paranoid, you can keep your software firewalls as well, and it
will still be easier to network.
These are my opinions, due to my experience. I've NEVER gotten ICS to work
properly, and i didn't have a firewall installed. I know NPF works with
ICS, but i never got ICS to work in the first place. The concept isn't a
good one, in my opinion.
Still, this is my opinion, for the star network arrangement works best for
me. I've set other people up the same way as described above, and they
liked it.
