Are you using the free version or Pro/Plus?Are you using a cracked(stolen)
registration number? From what I hear the latest version added something to
detect this. Who knows what the program does in this case.

If not make sure you clean up your system after you uninstall the old
version. Like other programs the uninstall does a horrible job of cleaning
itself up. Delete the ZoneAlarm registry hives and the
C:\windows(winnt)\system(system32)\ZoneLabs folder incase something in
either is corrupt and preventing a clean installation.
