Sorry the subject line is so cryptic, but the situation is fairly
unusual.

My question is, is a WinXP ICS gateway computer protected by the
ZoneAlarm Pro 3.1 firewall and Norton Anti-Virus products -- while no
individual user is logged on?

Here's the scenario.
   - Computer A is on WinXP and logs onto the Internet. Computer A is
an Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) gateway for a small home network.
   - Computer B is an ICS client and logs onto the internet using the
connection from Computer A.
   - Computer A's user logs off his account...but keeps the modem
connection alive. Computer A is now at the User Log On screen only.
   - Computer B continues to surf the web on the open modem connection
on Computer A.

Is Computer A protected at all by either the anti-virus or firewall
software?

If you're trying to replicate the situation, it seems that it only
works if Computer B is already using the Internet connection, i.e. for
email or browsing. If Computer B tries to initially access the
Internet after A is logged off, it doesn't work.

Thanks,
CR
