Just personally I think the only real threat to your PC that comes
from M/S at this point it time may well be MediaPlayer...

In my W98 setup (this one.!!!), I don't use MediaPlayer.. In my XP Pro
setup, which never accesses the internet and has just be Service Pack
1 updated, MediaPlayer is always trying to go online. This I can't
figure out. I am searching for as much about MediaPlayer and its
habbits, that I can find. So far, what I have found, is not that
nice....

Although most of us have every right to be paranoid about M/S, I don't
think you have to be any more paranoid than normal with the above
files. They are most likely the normal run of the mill connection
files introduced with your recent update...

I still use Atguard 3.22 and you should see all the things that are
coming and going in my PC. During the course of typing this I have
stopped no less that 10 contacts in or out. I have no browser open
yet, only this Forte Agent....
