ZA and RealNetworks

I use RealOne Player to listen to the radio on my PC (running W98).
Every so often, Zone Alarm tells me that REalNetworks DynamicApp
Launcher is trying to connect to the internet, and I block this. The
Player still seems to work. Can anybody tell me what the Launcher is
trying to do and should I let it do it?
