Firewire can also be used to network computers, just like Ethernet, so
XP adds the drivers. So does Win Me, as on this computer.

I looked in my Network setup just for fun. I have left the "NDIS 1394
Adapter" and the "TCP/IP -> NDIS 1394 Adapter" in place, but in the
TCP/IP -> NDIS, I have cleared the bindings to "Client for Microsoft
Networks" and "File and Printer Sharing...", although I did leave the
binding to TCP/IP in the NDIS adapter checked. No known problems have
resulted.
