I used to have BlackIce (for about 2 years). It recently got beefed up
with application (outbound packet) protection. It was at this time
that I decided to look else where. I am sure they will get it right
soon, but the implementation of application protection is poor (in my
opinion). The firewall was meant to have taken a profile on the
installed apps when it was setup, but I continually got "continue or
terminate" requests on applications such as Internet Explorer, Outlook
Express, and other programs. There didn't seem to be a way to
automatically create a rule for the activity so that you were not
continually bombarded with the continue or terminate dialogs. I
subseqently installed Kerio and I am very happy so far.
