I am looking for options for my home network. Recent events here in
Connecticut have made my wife and I consider the removal of the computers or
monitoring/filtering them. I have 2 children each with their own computers,
me and my wife each have our own also and a W2K server for file and print
services. I have Cable service, Speedstream 2614 providing Nat, DHCP,
firewall and acting as hub/switch.

I have looked at software products that can be installed on desktop, and
some appliance products. I would prefer an appliance or 2nd firewall, that
I could use to provide the logging, filtering, etc. I have considered using
the W2K box, but really hate to depend on my ability to keep the box patched
and such. I have looked at the sonicwall, netscreen firewalls and they
appear to provide some of the things I am looking for but am not sure which
direction to go?

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks

Richard
