Daley,
I am no expert on the sonicwall product, but I originally setup one for a
client a while back now. From my hazy memory, you have a setup CD/Disk that
came with the unit.
If your system has lost the configuration (i.e. firmware still intact), you
will have no IP address set. The setup program on the cd uses NETBEUI (only
via its non-public network connection) to talk to the Sonicwall as long as
you are on the same segment. One other thing was to make sure that the
machine has NETBEUI protocol loaded on that network card (most networking
people would take it off and it is wise to remove it again after you are
finished). This will basically locate your Firewall and bring up the
configuration screen where you can set the addresses and other items again.
The Sonic firewall that my client has, lost its setup twice now, and we can
only put it down to power spikes (they are in an industrial area), but each
time it lost its configuration only.
Anyhow, I hope it may help, alternatively I might have it totally wrong and
maybe I am thinking about another device, but I'd rather give you some
ideas and thoughts.
